What is Window Tinting?
Window tinting typically refers to a process in which a transparent sheet of film is applied to the inside of a window. The main purpose of this process is to reduce the amount of heat and radiation from the sun. While many people associate window tinting with cars, we can also tint the windows on your home, boat, or commercial building.
What are the Different Window Tint Percentages?
Here’s what you need to know about the various film percentages that we offer:
- 50%: Applying a 50 percent tint to your windows blocks only half the light from reaching the inside of your vehicle. This percentage is most popular for front windshields.
- 35%: Using a 35% film provides a darker appearance but still allows you to see through your vehicle and remain in compliance with Maryland state law.
- 20%: 20% film provides the best of both worlds. In the daytime it provides a moderate amount of coverage from UV rays, and offers close to complete privacy at night. This is our most popular percentage!
- 5%: 5 percent tint offers the greatest amount of UV protection, and complete privacy both day and night. Great for vehicles with light interior, commercial vehicles, and customers that wish to maintain the highest level of privacy.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CERAMIC FILM AND CARBON FILM?
Two of the best options for tint films are carbon and ceramic films. Carbon film has a dark matte finish that creates a unique look that is markedly different from the usual glossy tints. It provides moderate protection from heat and infrared light, keeping the car interior relatively cool. However, it does not provide the same amount of protection as ceramic film. Ceramic film is considered the highest quality of tint today. It effectively blocks up to 50% of solar heat and up to 99% of UV light. It also does not diminish visibility much and renders windows shatterproof. While it is the most expensive film, the protection it provides both the vehicle and the people in it more than makes up for the steep cost.
